A little about me
With over a decade of experience, as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker I have had the privilege of supporting a wide range of clients through some of life’s most challenging moments. My specific passion lies in working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, particularly those from Middle Eastern and South Asian communities, where mental health can often be stigmatized or misunderstood. I deeply appreciate the complex interplay of cultural identity, family expectations, and personal growth, and I bring this awareness into every therapeutic relationship.
My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored uniquely to you. I believe that healing is not a one-size-fits-all journey but a personalized process that respects your individual story and strengths. I utilize a blend of modalities, including somatic therapy, EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and insight-oriented methods to address not only the symptoms but also the root causes of distress. I take an engaged approach to therapy. I’m here to support you, offer encouragement, and challenge patterns or beliefs that may no longer be serving you. My goal isn’t just to listen, but to show up with you in the work.
I also recognize that navigating mental health issues within cultural contexts can present unique challenges such as dealing with social currency, managing family dynamics, and reconciling traditional roles with personal identity. My goal is to create a safe, affirming space where you feel heard and understood, allowing you to explore these complexities openly and without judgment.
In addition to my work in private practice, I have experience providing mental health support in forensic settings, including correctional facilities and state hospitals. My role has involved conducting psychological assessments, offering individual therapy focused on recovery and reintegration, and contributing to the legal process through written reports and court testimony. This work continues to inform my understanding of how mental health, and the legal system intersect, and I carry that perspective into my therapeutic approach. My undergraduate studies were in Social Work at the University of Detroit Mercy, with minors in Psychology and Women’s and Gender Studies. I went on to earn a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Southern California. I’m currently pursuing my Doctorate in Social Work at the University of Pennsylvania, where I continue to explore the intersection of clinical practice and systemic change.
I offer flexible online therapy sessions, understanding that accessibility and convenience are essential for many clients. Whether you’re seeking support for depression, anxiety, trauma, or identity exploration, I am committed to walking alongside you with empathy, respect, and a genuine desire to see you thrive.
